Box Office: 10th Day Collection of ‘Mohenjo Daro’
Hrithik Roshan’s “Mohenjo Daro” failed to put the expected impact at the box office and latest reports suggest that UTV Motion Pictures could be responsible to some extent for the poor collection of the movie. The trailer of “Mohenjo Daro” had received negative responses from viewers and it is believed to be one of the reasons behind the film’s poor collection at the box office. Now, it has been reported that director Ashutosh Gowariker was not allowed to edit the trailer of the Hrithik-starrer; instead a company called Trigger Happy Entertainment was given the responsibility.
In the opening week, Mohenjo Daro reported an average occupancy through out across the country and did the business of 51.18 crores, including 30.55 crores of weekend and 20.63 crores of weekdays. From overseas market, it did little better business of 24.13 crores in the first week. Now the movie is running in the second week and due to new releases, received lesser response in the weekend than expected. On its 2nd Friday, it faced almost 50% of drop than previous day and raked the business of 2.10 crores*. Then on the next day being Saturday, it showed little rise in its business and collected 2.60 crores*.
On the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, it showed better performance than last 2 days and estimated to add the amount of 3.75 crores* to its account, With this total domestic collection of Mohenjo Daro till its 2nd weekend will become 59.63 crores*. As compare to its whopping budget of 115 crores, the movie has tagged as one of the biggest flops of the year so far.
