Day 1 Collection of Meri Pyaari Bindu & Sarkar 3
Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Meri Pyaari Bindu and Sarkar 3 starring Amitabh Bachchan and Yami Gautam have opened to average response and are expected to make average collection at the domestic box office on its first day. Amid good hype and promotion, Meri Pyaari Bindu was released in around 750 cinema halls across India on Friday, May 12. The film had a below average advance booking for its opening day since Baahubali 2 is still ruling at the ticket counters.
Sarkar 3, on the other hand, was released in 1,425 screens, but advance booking of the film was only slightly better than Parineeti’s film. Despite releasing in 750 screens, Meri Pyaari Bindu witnessed only 15-20 percent occupancy. Though word of mouth publicity of Meri Pyaari Bindu is below average, as per early trends, the film is expected to collect Rs 1.75 crore at the Indian box office on its first day.
The occupancy of Sarkar 3 reached up to 10-20 percent. Both the movies fared better in West Bengal, Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. While Meri Pyaari Bindu witnessed poor response from Southern states, the third instalment of the hit Sarkar franchise had a decent opening in Bengaluru.
Sarkar 3, however, has a better hype and is likely to rake in Rs 2.10 crores at the domestic market. Both the movies would be affected by SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, which is still running houseful even after two weeks of release. The film which features an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Ronit Roy, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Amit Sadh, Yami Gautam, Supriya Pathak and Rohini Hattangadi is the third installment of the Sarkar franchise. Saturday and Sunday will be crucial for the film, to stand with a decent opening weekend at the box office.
