Kangana Ranaut in her supreme form has previously delivered blockbusters in Queen & Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Her latest release Simran has started on a slow note, let’s see how it fared on its 3rd day. Simran is receiving mixed reviews from critics as well as audience. Some are loving the film but some just couldn’t connect with the narration and storyline of the film.
On Friday, it opened on a dull note in morning and minted the amount of 2.77 crores from 1500 screens across the country with overall 15-20% of occupancy. On Saturday due to weekend tim, it witnessed fair jump and collected the amount 3.76 crores. Then on Sunday with further jump, it raked the business of 4.12 crores and raised it’s opening weekend total to 10.65 crores at domestic box office.
Kangana has always made some unusual choices in films – be it Fashion, Tanu Weds Manu, Queen or Simran — and how bold she is about making statements on her struggles in her personal and professional life. She will next be seen in a historical biopic Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi where she’ll play the lead role of Rani Laxmibai.
On the other hand, Starting its box office run amongst praises for stellar performances, Lucknow Central started on a low note. Lucknow Central stars some amazing performers in Farhan Akhtar, Diana Penty, Gippy Grewal, Deepak Dobriyal, Ronit Roy, Inaamulhaq & Ravi Kishan.
It opened with good response from everywhere, but again, the film had very low buzz to have a strong start. From the evening shows it witnessed slight jump in footfalls and raked the average business of 2.04 crore on 1200 screens which is lower than the expected figure.
On the next day i.e. Saturday due to weekend, the movie showed little jump and raked the business of 2.82 crores. On Sunday, Lucknow Central reported slight jump and collected the amount of 3.56 crores, to make it’s opening weekend total as 8.42 crores on domestic box office. With this trend, the movie doesn’t seem to hold well in weekdays.
