Kangana Ranaut’s Simran and Farhan Akhtar’s Lucknow Central released last week at the box office. The third film – Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi released too, but was vanished before it counted at the box office. Both the major films opened on an average note and enjoyed an ordinary weekend.
Fans liked the movie but from audience as well as critics, Hansal Mehta’s directorial received mixed response. Although most of them appreciated the performance done by Kangana Ranaut, but that wasn’t enough to lift it up. With overall 15-20% of occupancy in the opening weekend, Simran did the business of only 10.65 crores from 1500 screens across the country.
That was including 2.77 crore of Friday, 3.76 crore of Saturday and 4.12 crores of Sunday. Now it is running in weekdays and as expected faced abrupt dip in business graph. On Monday, Simran recorded 50% of drop than Friday and added the amount of 1.41 crore to it’s account. On the next day i.e. Tuesday, with further decline Kangana starrer managed to collect 1.25 crore and made it’s 5 days domestic total as 13.31 crores.
On the other hand, Lucknow Central is the comeback movie of Farkhan Akhtar after a long time and inspired by a true incident. This is why it was released with some buzz among her fans and audience. But unfortunately it got failed to impress anyone.
In the opening weekend with overall 10% occupancy, Ranjit Tiwari’s directorial raked the business of 8.42 crores, which was including 2.04 crore of Friday, 2.82 crore of Saturday and 3.56 crore of Sunday from 1200 screens across the country.
Now it is running in weekdays and asusual getting lesser footfalls in theaters than weekend. On Monday, Lucknow Central faced 60% of dip than Friday and minted 1.14 crore. Then on Tuesday with further drop, it collected 1.02 crore and made it’s 5 days total collection as 10.58 crores on domestic box office.
