Kapoor & Sons 9th Day Collection
Fawad Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt‘s Kapoor & Sons continued its fabulous run at the box office as it entered week two on a high. The film added Rs 4.40 crore on the second Friday to cross the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office. The film had collected Rs 46.93 crore at the end of the first week and adding Friday’s collection to this figure, Kapoor & Sons now stands with a collection of at Rs 51.33 crore at the domestic box office.
This is fabulous coz of the fact that the film has successfully maintained a steady run even with the ICC World T20 cricket World Cup going on simultaneously apart from new releases and exams as well. As trade analyst Taran Adarsh reveals in his tweet, “#KapoorAndSons crosses ₹ 50 cr. [Week 2] Fri 4.40 cr. Total: ₹ 51.33 cr. India biz. EXCELLENT HOLD, despite new releases, cricket and exams.”
Overseas as well, the film is rock solid and continues to break records. The film has become the highest first week grosser of 2016 after it crossed the collections of Akshay Kumar’s Airlift at the international markets. As Taran Adarsh mentioned in his tweets, “#KapoorAndSons is HIGHEST Week 1 grosser Overseas in 2016 *so far*. Overtakes #Airlift Week 1: $ 3.9 mn. Collects $ 4.2 mn [₹ 28.07 cr]. FAB”. On its second Saturday, it has raked the business of 4.50 crores as its 8th day collection. It still has much hold over family audience across the country and expected to perform well in this weekend too.
With not much of competition this week, the film will have a great second weekend and a fabulous second week. However, with Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan‘s Ki & Ka releasing on April 1, the film’s business might get affected. But still the film has done well and indeed everyone must be happy with the success of the film.
