Hindi Medium 6th Day Collection, Surpasses Lifetime Total of Shahid’s Rangoon

Irrfan Khan starrer has managed to remain rock-solid in its weekdays at the box office. Despite facing competition from Half Girlfriend and Baahubali 2, the movie has performed really well at the domestic market. Despite low ticket rates, the movie has been performing good at the box office, which also led the makers to increase the shows by public demand. Maharashtra and Gujarat have already been declared tax free and the other states are also planning to take the step.


On Friday, it did the business of 2.81 crores from 1126 screens with 15-20% of occupancy nationwide. On Saturday being weekend and due to positive word of mouth, the movie showed fair jump of around 49% and minted the amount of 4.25 crores. Then on Sunday too, it recorded considerable growth and collected the amount of 5.50 crores to make it’s 3 days domestic total as 12.56 crores.

Now it is running in weekdays and asusual getting lesser occupancy than weekend but still stands strong. The film managed to have a good Monday, what with collections to the tune of Rs. Rs. 3.15 crore. Compare this to the Friday collections [Rs. 2.81 crore] and you pretty much gain an idea that the film should now have good footfalls coming in for the rest of the week as well.

Then on the next day i.e. Tuesday, it reported slight jump and added the amount of 3.30 crores to its account. On Wednesday it received little less and minted the amount of 3.10 crores. Till the end of its 6th day, total domestic collection of the film is recorded as 22.11 crores.. Also, Hindi Medium has surpassed the lifetime total of Shahid Kapoor’s Rangoon (20.68 crores).

The movie, made on a budget of Rs 22 crore, is growing completely on positive word of mouth. It had already recovered Rs 15 crore from digital, satellite, music and overseas rights. Hindi Medium is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Bhushan Kumar and is a T-Series and Maddock Films presentation. The film is a slice of life comedy based in the heartland of our country.

Directed by Saket Chaudhary, the film also features Saba Qamar, Deepak Dobriyal and Amrita Singh in key roles. The film’s story revolves around a couple who want to give their daughter the best education so that she will be accepted by the elite.
