Great Grand Masti First 1st Day Collection: Opening Performance at Box Office

Great Grand Masti 1st Day Collection

Great Grand Masti had a low start of around 15-20% on average. The collections in multiplexes were especially poor while single screens were a little better. The previous two Masti films were hit films especially the last one Grand Masti which had opened very well with 12.19 crore nett and wemt on to do business of over 91 crore nett. That was nearly three years back and a lot has changed since then especially for this genre. The censor board has come down hard on the s*x- comedy film and they are showing poor results.

Mastizaade earlier this year was a disaster with 17.50 crore nett business and Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 was just a little better with 23 crore nett. The genre is just not finding an audience. The other problem for Great Grand Masti is a leaked print of the film which was the reason why the film has preponed. On its opening day, the movie reported the overall occupancy of 10-15% across the country and witnessed no considerable growth in evening. As per the report, Great Grand Masti seems to rake around 2.50 crores as its first day collection. With such cold reactions, there is no hope with it to take decent rise on Saturday & Sunday. The film has received limited shows at multiplexes and single screens both, since majority of the screens have already been assigned to Salman Khan’s Sultan.

But this was only choice left to the makers of Great Grand Masti after its back door exit. Being ‘A’ certified, it targets only youth audience and some of them have already watched its pirated version. So in such circumstances, it won’t be possible for the movie to take good start on box office with approx. 1200 screens.  Director Indra Kumar’s Bollywood movie “Great Grand Masti” (GGM), starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani and Urvashi Rautela, has received mixed reviews from audience.

“Great Grand Masti” is an adult spooky comedy film, which is the third instalment in the “Masti” film series. Tushar Hiranandani has written the story, while Madhur Sharma and Aakash Kaushik have penned the screenplay for the movie. Sameer Nair, Aman Gill, Ashok Thakeria, Sri Adhikari Brothers and Anand Pandit have bankrolled the movie under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures and Maruti International.
