Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Again has had one hell of a ride at the box office, as the film single-handedly turned around the state of films in 2017 and proved that family entertainers never go out of fashion. The film has been a sleeper hit after Rohit Shetty returned with the Golmaal franchise to the silver screen after a gap of 10 years.
With a twist of the horror genre in the comedy franchise, it gained immediate attention from its audiences and struck the right chord with them. Released on around 3,500 screens, the film has emerged as the biggest Hindi hit in 2017 and it now stands at a grand total of Rs 175 crore. It looks like director Rohit Shetty has struck gold with Golmaal Again and this is despite the film’s massive budget of Rs 80 crore.
In the opening week, Rohit Shetty’s directorial recorded phenomenal occupancy through out and raked the business of 136.07 crores including 87.60 crores of weekend and 48.47 crores of weekdays. In its second weekend too, it remained very strong and did the business of 31.44 crores with 7.25 crores of Friday, 10.61 crores of Saturday and 13.58 crores of Sunday.
After the second weekend, total collection of the movie was calculated as 167.51 crores on domestic box office. Once again it is running in weekdays and still heading with strong pace. On its 2nd Monday, Golmaal Again reported only 40% of drop than Friday and registered the business of 4.33 crores.
With further decline, the movie added the amount of 4.02 crores to its account. On the next day i.e. Wednesday, it faced slight more drop and collected 3.78 crores which has made its 13 days domestic total as 179.64 crores.
Golmaal Again, which stars Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Tabu, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu, Prakash Raj, Sirshak Shrestha and Neil Nitin Mukesh, has tipped towards the comedy horror genre in this outing.
