Couple of weeks back released two much awaited movies Gold and Satyameva Jayate have completed the journey of two weeks at box office on overall good note. Both have received favorable response from audience but faced much loss in business because of this clash.
In the 9-days extended opening week, superstar Akshay Kumar starrer Gold remained the first choice of audience and did the excellent business of 89.30 crores from 4000 screens across the country. This was including 71.30 crores of 5-days opening weekend and 18 crores of weekdays.
In the second week, Reema Kagti’s directorial witnessed some drop in its pace but still managed to add decent business total to its account. In second weekend, Gold minted the amount of 9.70 crores including 1.85 crores of Friday, 3.10 crores of Saturday and 4.75 crores of Sunday.
Then in weekdays, as usual it got lesser footfall in theaters than before and raked the business of 1.45 crore on Monday, 1 crore on Tuesday and 0.90 crore on Wednesday. On the last day of week i.e. Thursday, Gold registered the business of 0.75 crore and made its 2 weeks domestic total as 103.10 crores.
While on the other hand, superstar John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate has also performed well in the 9-days opening week. It did the business of 75.09 crores in the first week from 3500 screens in India, which was including 56.91 crores of weekend and 18.18 crores of weekdays.
In the second week, Milap Zaveri’s directorial reported lower business than Akshay Kumar’s Gold and raked the business of 8.34 crores with 1.82 crores of Friday, 2.20 crores of Saturday and 4.32 crores of Sunday.
Then in weekdays, asusual the movie reported lesser occupancy in theaters than before but managed to remain almost decent. SMJ has added the amount of 1.49 crore on Monday, 1.46 crore on Tuesday, 1.25 crore on Wednesday and 1.07 crore on Thursday. With this, its 2 weeks domestic total has become 88.70 crores.
