Ghayal Once Again First Day Collection Report
Sunny Deol’s “Ghayal Once Again”, previously titled “Ghayal Returns”, has been released today after much delay. The film is a sequel to Sunny’s blockbuster movie “Ghayal” released in 1990. “Ghayal” is regarded as Deol’s one of the best movies to date. The action revenge drama opened to rave reviews when released in 1990, but the second part “Ghayal Once Again” has not opened to good reviews. Early reviews from critics suggest that the film is not worth the money. According to critics, the film still revolves around the 90s era plot, which might not work in 2016. The film directed by Deol features Soha Ali Khan, Om Puri and Tisca Chopra in pivotal roles. The film also features Shivam Patil, Aanchal Munjal, Narendra Jha, Manoj Joshi and others in supporting roles.
Number of directors were considered, various scripts were deliberated and even a teaser was rolled out many years ago. However, eventually Sunny decided to direct the film himself. He spent good time in putting it together to give it a polished look and ensured that the end product wasn’t hurried. There are no controversies or bad media around the film and Sunny Deol’s goodwill has ensured that it is seeing a clean arrival in theaters. One just wishes though that the overall marketing and promotion was a little better laid out so that the hype would have been a lot more by now.
For a film which is a sequel to a much loved action entertainer, the buzz has been good, though it could well have been excellent by now. As a matter of fact, it could well have gained an event release status. However, as things stand today, the film would see a decent opening (30%-40%), with a much better occupancy at single screen theaters. If the film could enter into a double digit opening, it would find a great platform for itself. Sunny Deol’s last release Singh Saab The Great had an opening week of 23 crore and Ghayal Once Again needs to a do a lot more than that just over the weekend.
Anyhow, As it has received good pre-release response from fans as well as audience for its advance booking. Also it is getting favorable reviews after the premiere shows. The movie is being released on good number of screens and expected to receive around 40% of occupancy across the country. On single screens, it will get higher response and increase its business to a good mark. After considering all the prediction reports, this action thriller is estimated to rake over 7.50 crores* in India.
