15th Day Collection of Fan
Though King Khan proved once again that his acting prowess has not diminished from any angle, ‘Fan’ has not been as successful as the superstar would have liked it to be. And it seems the onus of the film doing so poorly is not entirely on Shah Rukh Khan or Maneesh Sharma. There is one part of the puzzle which might prove why ‘Fan’ bombed despite rave critic reviews. According to a report on bollywoodlife.com, the head honcho of YRF, Aditya Chopra might be responsible, as a source claims that he changed the second part of the film which he wanted to be different from the first part. The report, however, also quoted a YRF spokesperson rubbishing the rumours. Though the movie did not enter the 100 crore club in its first week, ‘Fan’ still is a great movie where SRK weaves his magic once again.
In fact, the story of FAN was a little different and a source close to the movie revealed that it was producer Aditya Chopra who made these changes. Originally the script was more tight and was supposed to be in sync with the content of the first half, but the YRF head honcho insisted that on a different take. A source told BollywoodLife, “Aditya Chopra wanted the second half to be different from the first half. He wanted a completely different story to be shown and so the chase sequences and prolonged action scenes were later added.” Another source revealed to us that Shahrukh wasn’t too sure of these suggestions and even asked Adi to shorten the length of movie, especially the second half, but he didn’t listen. The source said, “Shahrukh wanted the film’s length to be cut short as it was too long but Aditya Chopra wouldn’t hear any of it. He didn’t budge from his stand and Fan went as per Adi’s instructions.”
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan continues to struggle at the box office. The film collected around 83.06 crores* on its 2nd Week. Fan turned out to be a disappointment at the box office. Considering its star value and the buzz created, it didn’t achieve the collections as expected. In the opening week, Maneesh Sharma’s directorial this thriller drama had witnessed overall good and raked the business of total 71.50 cr, that includes 52.35 cr of weekend and 19.15 cr of weekdays. In the second weekend, Fan has not showed any impressive growth and minted only 7.75 cr, that includes 1.70 cr of Friday, 2.65 cr of Saturday and 3.40 cr of Sunday. After 10 days, total collection of the movie was calculated as 79.25 cr from domestic and 61.35 cr from overseas market.
In weekdays, as last first week it witnessed very low than weekend. With gradual decrements in its occupancy as well as in business, it made the collection of 1.10 cr on Monday, 1 cr* on Tuesday and 0.85 cr on Wednesday. On the last day of week i.e. Thursday, it faced slight more drop and added the amount of 0.75 cr to its account. At the end of two weeks, total collection of Fan is recorded as 82.95 cr at domestic and around 65 cr* at overseas box office. With this, the movie has crossed the mark of 150 cr at worldwide box office excluding shares.
