Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer “Drishyam” scored well in its opening weekend at the box office. As expected, the thriller drama clocked in Rs 30.03 crore opening weekend at the domestic box office. The opening weekend box office collection of Ajay and Tabu starrer is in the range of this year’s highest grosser including “Tanu Weds Manu Returns”, “Gabbar Is Back”, “Baby” and “Dil Dhadakne Do” among others. Ajay-Tabu starrer broke the opening weekend records of Deepika Padukone-Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Piku”, which earned Rs 25.22 crore. “Drishyam” business went up during the weekend due to word of mouth. The film directed by Nishikanth Kamath is carrying terrific word of mouth. Ajay-Tabu starrer is also close to earning its production cost. The budget of the film including printing and advertisement is Rs 67 crore, according to Koimoi.com. The film has already earned approximately Rs 45 crore from its satellite, music, overseas, internet and other rights and Rs 30 crore from its opening weekend theatrical run. The movie, which is a Nishikanth’s directorial, has made a business of 5.50 crores* yesterday i.e. 1st Monday at the Box Office in India.


Drishyam Tuesday Box Office Business

Today is the 5th day of release for this drama filled film and now the film getting fallen audience response and feedback due in spite of low competition. Multiplexes are contributing normal income for the film and single screens are running decently. Total Tuesday collection of Drishyam is around 4.7 Crores* which is not good as a 5th day income for any good budget movie like it. The movie will easily touch the 50 crore mark by the end of its 1st week run at the Domestic Box Office. This coming weekend is expected to raise the bar of this action film with increased occupancy and income. How so ever new Bollywood films are also releasing on coming Friday which might affect the performance of Drishyam with the start of coming weekend. “Drishyam” might not be a blockbuster film, but it will make it to the hit or super-hit films list. Nishikanth’s directorial film also features Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor and Ishita Dutta in prominent roles.
