Do Lafzon Ki Kahani (DLKK) First 1st Day Collection: Opening Performance at Box Office

DLKK Collection: Takes Slow Start on Opening Day in India

After his stunning, heart-wrenching performance in Sarbjit, Randeep Hooda is back with Do Lafzon ki Kahani, a mushy romance that echoes the fairytale idea of love. Taking us back to the ‘90s when dialogues like “Haath mila rahi hu, maang nahi rahi” seemed cute, Do Lafzon Ki Kahaani is a tale of ‘eternal love’, one that makes you sacrifice all and suffer forever for the sake of your beloved. Based on the 2011 Korean movie Always, this kahani follows Sooraj (Randeep), a former mixed martial arts fighter who sells his life to be able to afford importing cornea from the US for his beloved Jenny (Kajal Aggarwal).

What is really worth watching are the sequences where Randeep prepares to get back into the ring. For a movie that hinges on a love story, Do Lafzon ki Kahani is weak on the chemistry though. But there are a few scenes between Randeep and Kajal that melt your heart. We blame the melodramatic dialogues for the scarcity of such scenes.

Do Lafzon Ki Kahani is a smaller film, though effort has been made to promote it well. The songs are good and the visuals are looking rich as well. Director Deepak Tijori is making a comeback after Sunny Deol and Arjun Rampal strrer Fox. That said, the buzz hasn’t really seen much momentum despite sustained promotion. Of late, Randeep Hooda has seen good media coverage coming his way due to a few back-to-back good performances while Kajal Aggarwal too is returning to Bollywood after Special 26. This could have been hammered a lot more. Again, it would all boil down to what audience says.

Do Lafzon Ki Kahani has taken a slow start on box office in India. The film is getting mixed reviews from critics as well as audience. The last week released Housefull 3 is still has much hold over audience, so DLKK can only rely on word of mouth otherwise there is no scope. On its very first day, Do Lafzon Ki Kahani has witnessed the below average occupancy of 30% in India. It has raked the business of 1.03 crores (613 screens) as its opening day collection. The film is expected to continue with the same pace till the weekend, afterwards everything will depend on public response.
