Distribution Rights of Mahesh Babu’s Spyder is Sold at Whopping Price

After the shocking debacle of Brahmotsavam, Mahesh Babu will be seen next in SPYder, and it is turning out to be a really exciting project to look forward to this year. For one, he will be teaming up with Ghajini and Kaththi director AR Murugadoss for the first time. Secondly, it’s a hi-tech spy thriller and the teaser, that came up some weeks back, looked very interesting.

Reportedly the movie rights of Mahesh Babu starrer SPYder are sold at 23 crores to Lyca Productions

The movie is scheduled to release on September 27. Now the latest buzz is that the rights of the movie have been bought by Lyca Productions for the sum of Rs 25 crore. The deal involves the rights for the Telugu and the Tamil versions of the movie, and is believed to be the highest price for a Mahesh Babu movie.

Buzz is that Lyca Productions has bought the Tamil Nadu distribution rights of the forthcoming espionage thriller for a whopping Rs 25 crore. “@LycaProductions buys TN theatricals & other rights of bilingual @urstrulyMahesh/@ARMurugadoss #Spyder 4 a rumoured whopping Rs 25 Cr. WoW!,” tweeted trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai.

As per the website Telugu 360, since Lyca Productions is involved, the movie is expected to have a huge release in Tamil Nadu, another first for a Mahesh Babu movie. There are also reports that the movie’s foreign rights, excluding that of the US, are likely to be sold for Rs 8 Crores while the US rights is believed to be bought for Rs 17 crore.

SPYder was a subject of discussion for fans because it marked the collaboration of two exciting personalities – AR Murugadoss and Mahesh Babu for the first time. Rakul Preet Singh will also feature in this project and SJ Suryah will play the lead antagonist. Reports suggest the budget of this film is more than Rs 100 crore. The music has been composed by Harris Jayaraj.
