15 Days Collection of Dear Zindagi
Both Dear Zindagi and Kahaani 2 witnessed limited release, in terms of screen count. However, while Shah Rukh Khan’s slice-of-life film has stayed steady in the two weeks since it arrived in theatres, Vidya Balan’s thriller is struggling. In 14 days, Dear Zindagi has collected Rs. 61.49 crore at the domestic box office and Kahaani 2 has raked in Rs. 23.71 crore in seven days. These films cannot be compared, but Kahaani 2 has shown a steady growth in its box office numbers; the figures have been dropping since start of week one.
In the opening week, Dear Zindagi recorded good occupancy through out and registered the excellent business of 47 crores, that was included 32.50 crores of weekend and 14.50 crores of weekdays. Despite the new release Kahaani 2, Red Chillies Entertainment & Dharma Productions’ latest venture raked the business of 10.10 crores in its second weekend, with 2.25 crores of Friday, 3.50 crores of Saturday and 4.35 crores of Sunday. Then in weekdays, again Dear Zindagi got lesser in audience than weekend but maintained a steady graph.
On Monday, it faced almost 50% of drop than last Friday and minted the amount of 1.25 crore. With further fall, the movie added the amount of 1.17 crore and 1.05 crore on Tuesday and Wednesday. On the last day of week i.e. Thursday, it scored 0.92 crore and made its 14 days total collection as 61.49 crores on domestic box office. With this, Dear Zindagi has surpassed the lifetime total of Udta Punjab (60.30 crores).
From international market too, the movie has done quite impressive business of around 45 crores in 2 weeks. On Friday, it noticed more than 50% of drop from previous day and added the amount of 0.46 crore* to its account. With this, total 15 days collection of Dear Zindagi has become 61.95 crores* across the country. It won’t be easy for the movie to receive even an average response on box office in opposite to new releases.
