2nd Tuesday Collection of Dear Zindagi
Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor are in the running for all the major awards this year after putting in some fabulous performances. Alia’s latest release – Dear Zindagi and Sonam’s Neerja have been two of the best women-centric movies of 2016. Both the films were not only critically acclaimed, but also appreciated by the audience. In fact, both are the top earning women centric films too. Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan‘s Dear Zindagi has continued its great run at the box office. The movie has collected Rs 57.10 crore by the end of the second weekend.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed about the detailed collections in his tweet, “#DearZindagi is nearing Rs 60 cr mark… [Week 2] Fri 2.25 cr, Sat 3.50 cr, Sun 4.35 cr. Weekend 2: ₹ 10.10 cr. Total: Rs 57.10 cr. India biz. Dear Zindagi‘s Rs 57.10 crore collection at the end of the second weekend is higher than what Neerja had collected by the end of the second weekend. Taran Adarsh had tweeted about Neerja‘s second weekend collection earlier, “#Neerja continues its EXTRAORDINARY march. Is UNSTOPPABLE. [Week 2] Fri 3.15 cr, Sat 5 cr, Sun 6.65 cr. Total: Rs 50.12 cr. India biz.”
While Alia Bhatt’s Dear Zindagi has DEFEATED Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja at the second weekend, you have to take into account a few other things too. Dear Zindagi has just earned Rs 10.10 crore during the second weekend, while Neerja had collected Rs 14.80 crore. So while DZ has an upper hand right now, Sonam’s film had kept growing in the second week too. After 10 days of release, total collection of Dear Zindagi was recorded as 57.10 crores on domestic box office and 40.90 crores from international market.
Once again it is in weekdays and getting lesser audience in theaters than before. With almost 50% of drop than last Friday, the movie added the amount of 1.25 crore to its account on 2nd Monday. Then on the next day i.e. 2nd Tuesday, it reported little more decline and estimated to rake the amount of 1.17 crore and make its 12 days domestic total as 59.12 crores. Dear Zindagi is positively expected to surpass the lifetime total of Udta Punjab (60.30 crores) by this week.
