Dangal 8th Day Collection; 2nd Friday Performance on Indian Screens

8 Days Total Collection of Aamir Khan’s Dangal

After a week since its release on December 23, Dangal has finally crossed the Rs 300-crore mark at the box office, taking into account both domestic earnings and money made from the international market. Dangal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is based on the struggle of Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who trained his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari to become world-class wrestlers. Aamir’s performance as Mahavir Singh Phogat has been widely praised. The Phogat girls, Suhani Bhatnagar and Sanya Malhotra as Babita and Zaira Wasim and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Geeta, have also won the audiences’ hearts with their acting.

A good pre-marketing buzz followed by generous word of mouth has propelled Dangal into become one of India’s all-time blockbusters. So far, up until Thursday, Dangal has grossed Rs 300 crore worldwide, with Rs 197 crore coming in from India and another Rs 103 crore coming from overseas collections. Dangal is the second film this year, after Salman Khan’s Sultan, which is based on the world of home-trained wrestlers. On that note, Dangal has surpassed the opening weekend box-office collection of Salman Khan’s Sultan which was also based on wrestling.

Sultan grossed Rs 105.34 in its opening weekend (calculating first three days of release as opening weekend; Salman’s Sultan released on Wednesday while Aamir’s Dangal released on Friday). At the end of its first week, the collection of Dangal was 197.53 crores. And now the movie has entered in its second week, on its second Friday the movie has started with good occupancy as Thursday and also experienced good increment from evening shows. As per the report, on its 8th day of release, the movie has done the business of around 18.59 crores and made it domestic total to 216.12 crores.

From Saturday, a considerable rise in business of the movie is expected. As there is no big movie has released from Bollywood, so this will be an advantage for Dangal. The movie has very impressive and inspiring story, based on the real life of former wrestling champion Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters world class wrestlers Geeta Phogat & Babita Kumari. Because of its strong content and brilliant performances by the lead stars- Aamir Khan, Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar, the movie has received super positive reviews from critics as well as moviegoers.
