Sultan Collection Prediction
Finally, the day has arrived. Come today, and theatres would be coming back to business. To think of it, the best opening day so far has been Rs. 19.20 crore for Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan, which is followed by Housefull 3 [Rs. 15.21 crore]. Though good, these are not great numbers, considering the fact that the Box Office has a capacity of over Rs. 50 crore across 5000 screens, if they all go full house. Agreed that none of the films this year has released on such a massive scale so far. However, Sultan is releasing on a record count, and that means there are bigger opportunities awaiting it as well.
Such opportunities also mean massive expectations, which further translates into the fact the if a film is appreciated, there is no stopping it and if it is not, the fall is quite steep. This was seen for Fan not so long back. That said, for the Salman Khan starrer this doesn’t seem to be the case since it is ticking all boxes as far as coming together of the right ingredients is concerned. The stage is set and as long as the film is even as much liked as Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (which had its best collections coming from the first 5-6 days run), Sultan is set for a huge start. That said, sky is the limit if it is loved as much as Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
The film benefits hugely from the fact that it has three major holidays in its first five days – an envious position to be in. Other than Eid, it has Saturday and Sunday, which are set to be huge. The advance booking for the film has seen a positive start so far and with Sultan being practically the only film running in theatres currently, all it needs is a fairly entertaining film from Ali Abbas Zafar to make it big.
There are no debates on whether the film would go past the Rs. 130-140 crore mark over this five day weekend. The real game for the Yash Raj affair is to cross the Rs. 150 crore milestone by the time weekdays begin. Going by the hype, buzz and film’s placement so far, this pretty much seems possible.
