Ranveer Singh fails to BEAT Tiger Shroff at the box office
Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor’s Befikre is doing pretty fair at the box office. Befikre, which marks the comeback of filmmaker Aditya Chopra has managed to collect around Rs. 34 crore at the domestic box office. Considering that it’s a Ranveer Singh film, we expected the numbers to be much higher. The film has managed to collect Rs 34 crore within three days of its release whereas Baaghi had amassed around Rs 38 crore in the first weekend. Surprisingly, Befikre has failed to beat Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi as far as box office numbers are concerned and here is the breakdown of both their films.
Tiger and Shraddha’s Baaghi was released in over 2200 screens and Befikre released in 2100 screens across India which is pretty close. Also, the buzz around both the films was pretty high and they are both films with fresh onscreen pairs. Baaghi went on to make Rs 75 crore within 3 weeks. With no big release in the coming weeks, apart from Dangal (December 23), Befikre has a free run at the ticket window. Befikre has been getting mixes reviews so far and from what it looks like, the box office numbers of this film ride primarily on Ranveer Singh’s shoulders. He is the USP of the film.
The story of the film revolves around Dharam (RS) and Shyra (Vaani) who are in a no-strings-attached relationship. The storyline is based on the modern take on relationships. Now that’s something that filmmaker Aditya Chopra has never done before. Ranveer and Vaani look pretty good together as far as their chemistry is concerned. They share some intimate scenes in the film which got everyone talking when the trailer released. All in all, its a decent rom-com and if you are an ardent fan of Mr Singh, then you might end up liking it.
