The two noticeable releases of this Friday, Hindi drama Blackmail and Punjabi war drama Subedar Joginder Singh have got succeed to impress the critics as well as the audience. Both stand high on content and getting positive word of mouth, which will help them to grow over the weekend.
Directed by Abhinay Deo, Irrfan Khan starrer Blackmail depicts life of a middle-aged married-man stuck in a full day-time job and unexciting life but things turn after he finds that his wife is having an extramarital affair.
On the opening day, Blackmail opened to a slow note in morning but from the evening shows, it witnessed decent growth in multiplexes due to the positive response. With overall 30-35% of occupancy on 1550 screens across India, the movie has done the business of 2.81 crores at the domestic box office.
While on the other hand, superstar of Punjab Gippy Grewal starrer Subedar Joginder Singh is one of the most anticipated Punjabi movies of the year. Directed by Simerjit Singh, the movie is based upon the life, struggle and valor of a Subedar in Indian Army who achieved his martyrdom while fighting Chinese in Indo-China war of 1962.
This movie is believed to depict Subedar’s professional and personal life and how he handled while serving his nation. Due to the presence of Gippy, the movie has been released with huge buzz among fans as well as the Punjabi audience. As expected, it has got a good opening and registered the business of 1.75 crore from 375 screens at the domestic box office with a major contribution by Punjab region.
