Irrfan Khan’s quirky comedy Blackmail which opened to great reviews by the critics and audience ended it’s 1st weekend on the right note. The movie did witness a drop on Monday but has maintained to remain stable on its 1st Tuesday.
Starring the very talented Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari in lead roles alongside the strong supporting cast, Blackmail stands high on content and performances. It has impressed all the viewers with the engaging and suspenseful story-line and received mostly positive reviews from the critics.
In the opening weekend, it garnered the business of 11.22 crores with 2.81 crores on Friday, 3.85 crores on Saturday and 4.56 crores on Sunday from 1550 screens nationwide. In weekdays, Abhinay Deo’s directorial witnessed some drop in footfalls but still heading steadily.
On Monday, Blackmail collected the amount of 1.68 crores, which was 45% drop than the opening day. On Tuesday, with little more drop it managed to add 1.52 crores to it’s account and made 5 days total collection as 14.42 crores on domestic box office.
The film has been locking horns with films like Raid, Hichki and Baaghi 2 at the box office. This Friday the film will compete with Varun Dhawan’s much-awaited film October. In the film, Irrfan Khan portrays the character of Dev, who is so engrossed in his work that he can barely make time for his wife.
One day when he decides to surprise her by going home early with a bouquet of flowers, he is left shocked to watch his wife in bed with her ex-lover. While normally a man would opt for two options either kill his wife or kill his wife’s lover, Dev aka Irrfan decides to blackmail the wife’s lover.
