After a decent opening, last Friday released black comedy Newton picked up impressively well and completed first week on a good note at box office. Actor Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil and Raghubir Yadav starrer this film received positive reviews from critics as well as audience, that created good word of mouth for it.
Ever since it was announced that Rajkummar Rao starrer Newton will go to 2018 Oscars as India’s official entry to compete in the Best Foreign Language Film category, the numbers of the film have been climbing steadily. In the opening weekend, Amit V Masurkar’s directorial did the business of 6.90 crores, that included 0.96 crores of Friday, 2.52 crores of Saturday and 3.42 crores of Sunday from 430 screens across the country.
Then in weekdays despite normal working days, it remained steady and collected 1.31 crores on Monday, 1.34 crores on Tuesday and 1.18 crores on Wednesday. On the last day of week i.e. Thursday, Newton minted 1.10 crore and made it’s one week domestic total as 11.83 crores.
While the another Hindi offering Sanjay Dutt starrer Bhoomi got mixed reviews from viewers and raked an average business of 7.48 crores in the opening weekend, with 2.25 crores on Friday, 2.47 crores on Saturday and 2.76 crores on Sunday.
Then in weekdays, Omung Kumar’s directorial witnessed usual drops and collected the amount of 1 crore on Monday, 0.90 crore on Tuesday, 0.77 crore on Wednesday and 0.53 crore on Thursday. After a week, total collection of Bhoomi is recorded as 10.68 crores at domestic box office.
While On a poor note, Shraddha Kapoor’s crime drama biopic Haseena Parkar did the business of total 8.09 crores in last 6 days on domestic box office, which was including 1.87 crore of Friday, 2.60 crore of Saturday, 1.63 crore of Sunday, 0.75 crore of Monday, 0.67 crore of Tuesday and 0.57 crore of Wednesday. On Thursday, with more drop it collected the amount of 0.40 crore and made it’s one week total as 8.49 crores.
