Begum Jaan 3rd Day Collection, Completes 1st Weekend on an Average Note

3 Days Total Collection of Begum Jaan

Vidya Balan’s latest offering Begum Jaan with Gauahar Khan, Ila Arun, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajit Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vivek Mushran, Chunky Pandey, Gauahar Khan & Pallavi Sharda has completed its opening weekend at box office on a decent note. It is written and directed by National Film Award-winning director Srijit Mukherji and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt and Play Entertainment. The film is co-produced by Sakshi Bhatt and Shree Venkatesh Films with executive producer Kumkum Saigal.

The cinematography is done by Gopi Bhagat. Lyrics, additional screenplay and dialogues have been penned by Kausar Munir and Rahat Indori. Vidya Balan plays the lead role of a brothel’s madam, set in the backdrop of late Indian Independence period of 1948. It is Hindi remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini (2015). Also most of the viewers have reacted in favor of the movie, which made it to witness fair growth in its occupancy over weekend than the opening day.

On Friday, Srijit Mukherji’ directorial this period drama flick recorded an average occupancy of for morning shows. But witnessed little growth from evening and did the decent business of 3.94 crores from 1100 screens on domestic box office. While her last year’s Te3n and Kahaani 2 did the opening business of 3.97 crores and 4.25 crores respectively.

Now if 3.51 crore collected by the film on Saturday are any indication, the Srijit Mukherjee directed film would need a major turnaround today if it has to step into the weekdays with a good haul. Then on the last day of weekend too i.e. Sunday, the movie reported growth and minted the amount of 4.03 crores to make its opening weekend domestic total as 11.48 crores, whereas Kahaani 2 had registered 16.97 crores in first 3 days.

What works to an extent for the film is the fact that its budget is lowest amongst all notable flicks that have hit the screens this year. Moreover, there is a tax rebate of 2 crore from the Jharkhand government too that would be making those at Vishesh Films breathe easy.
