Befikre 9th Day Collection: 2nd Saturday at Box Office was Average

2nd Saturday Collection of Befikre

While there are speculations of Aditya Chopra’s Befikre doing average business at the box office, according to trade sources, the film was in profit from the release day, “The production house has released a figure of Rs 70 crore as the cost of the film. To begin with Adi got a subsidy of Rs 10 crore (approx) from French government for shooting there. Music rights have been sold for Rs 10 crore and they have got Rs 25 crore for satellite rights from Sony, and Adi is negotiating selling the digital rights for Rs 35 crore approx to Amazon Prime Video, India, for streaming the film. Many B-Town producers are selling their digital rights to Amazon and Netflix,” says the source.

Befikre has minted Rs 50.43 crore nett (Rs 70.04 crore gross) from its domestic run and Rs 16.36 crore from the overseas market. The eight-day domestic gross and one-week overseas income takes its worldwide box office collection to Rs 86.4 crore. Chopra’s directorial requires Rs 14 crore more to cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office. If Befikre maintains a good hold at the box office in its second weekend then it might enter the coveted Rs 100 crore group by its 10th day.

The Singh-Kapoor starrer has finally crossed the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office. The film took eight days to cross the half-century mark in India. Befikre started on a good note and maintained a good opening weekend, but the collection dropped drastically Monday onwards. The film earned Rs 34.43 crore in its opening weekend, Rs 45.75 crore in the first week and Rs 50.43 crore after the eighth-day run. On Friday, it witnessed slightly less than Thursday and minted the amount of 1.68 cr. Then on the next day, being Saturday it received little higher and added 2.23 crore to its account.

After the 9th day, total domestic collection of this Aditya Chopra’s directorial is recorded as 52.66 crore. Ranveer has given entertaining performance and come out as the highlight of the movie, but still due to its weak story Befikre has received mixed reviews from critics. Although most of the viewers have reacted in its favor but that didn’t work in weekdays. This is the second shock for Yash Raj Films after Shahrukh Khan’s Fan, which was also expected to perform well on box office
