Box Office: First Day Collection of BANJO
This Friday three films Banjo, Days of Tafree and Parched reportedly released to lukewarm response across the country. There has apparently been no hype around these movies. Parched managed to stay in the news due to leaked online nude scenes of Radhika Apte. Banjo starring Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri didn’t stir much interest in the audience. Riteish, who shines in multi-starrer films, struggled to perform in solo-hero outings. Banjo saw an estimated occupancy of 15% in the morning shows. The film’s opening, courtesy Riteish Deshmukh, is better in Maharashtra than other states in the country.
Banjo is the Hindi directorial debut of talented Marathi filmmaker Ravi Jadhav of Timepass fame. At the box-office, the movie has managed to grab an average of five screenings per multiplex, which should give it a great head start. Finally, it will depend on the content and word of mouth publicity if Banjo has to take off well. The opening in Maharashtra was better but still poor as the audience there has also not come, maybe the film could have done better in the local language rather than HIndi. The opening in North and West India was awful with multiplexes in Delhi NCR having audience counts in single figures.
The opening of the film can compared with films like Freaky Ali and Madaari. Basically in Maharashtra it is better than those films but in the rest of the country its same or lower. As with every week its about the growth on Saturday and it will have to be huge if the film is to survive. The film started with occupancy of 15 percent in the morning shows, while in most of state of Maharashtra the occupancy has been a decent one that escalated with the ongoing number of shows not just in the named place but also at other places too. As per reports, the first day box office collection for Banjo tolled to around 1.72 crores, which is actually a decent figure.
