Second Day Collection of Badrinath Ki Dulhania
Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan’s jodi returned to the big screen after three years with Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and the film had a great start at the box office. In fact, the first day collections of the film overtook the prequel, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’s collections. Registering around 60% occupancy in the earlier shows, Badrinath Ki Dulhania raked in Rs 12.25 crore at the box office.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the rom-com revolves around barely literate Badrinath Bansal (Varun) and fiercely independent Vaidehi Trivedi (Alia) in a patriarchal society where women are expected to stay within their “maryaada (limits)”. When Vaidehi ditches Badri at the shaadi ka mandap to follow her air-hostess dreams, it remains to be seen how he will get his dulhania.
The film opened very well today and received much better audience response making its second day i.e. Saturday income to stand at 14.75 Crores, thus taking its total so far to 27 crores at the India Box Office. The film, which was made on a medium budget, will recover its investment in no time.
The loyal fan base of both Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan will be instrumental in making this film a super-hit without much hassle. The chemistry of the film is winsome and that gives the assurance that the film will rake up a respectable weekend cumulative. Being a complete mass entertainer, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is expected to see a big jump tomorrow both in rural as well as urban centres.
