Despite good reviews, the film has started on a slow note and the morning show’s occupancy was just 25 to 30%in theaters. However, the occupancy increased in the afternoon shows. Nevertheless, in international market the film has started on a good note. In the Gulf region the film was released on Thursday itself and along with rave reviews the opening day collection is also good. “Badlapur – UAE: Thu approx AED 360,000 [Rs.61.02 lacs]. “Badlapur” is looking for a good weekend in India as well as in the international market. Meanwhile, “Badlapur” is a small budget film and has been made on a budget of just 25 crore. If it holds up well at the box office then it will be able to earn the production by the weekend itself. “It is being said that the film has cost Rs. 50 crores to the makers (Eros and Dinesh Vijan). This is sheer nonsense and doesn’t carry any basis whatsoever. The film has been made at around Rs.16 crores with Rs. 9 crores set aside for P&A (Print and Advertising). This comes to around Rs. 25 crores, which is just perfect for a film like Badlapur which is commercial in its own way,” a well-placed source informed Bollywood Hungama. Another release of the week is Irrfan Khan’s Qissa which is a delayed film. There has been hardly any promotion for the film and the release is set to be minuscule as well. A festival affair, it may just see some critical acclaim for itself. Now, Badlapur is expected to start on a good note as it has registered occupancy of more than 40%. An opening of over 11 crores is expected for this film.
