Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer action romantic drama A Gentleman was released this Friday across the country with good buzz among fans as well as audience. But unfortunately it got failed to impress critics and received mixed reviews. However, surprisingly the buzz was limited before the release and neither the promo nor the songs could entice audience much.
Raj & D.K’s this directorial didn’t witnessed much footfalls in the opening weekend and registered the business of 13.13 crores, that included 4.04 crore of Friday, 4.36 crores of Saturday and 4.73 crores of Sunday. Now the movie has entered in weekdays and witnessed abrupt drop in footfalls. On Monday, A Gentleman faced around 49% of fall than Friday and minted the amount of 2.03 crore to make it’s 4 days domestic total 15.16 crores.
The trailer unveiled a really stylish film of Hollywood level. So the expectations were pretty big. Also, it was rumoured to be a sequel to Bang Bang! starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, though the makers had condemned that vehemently. It did help the film get some attention. But it’s not enough to just look good.
While the Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bidita Bag starrer Babumoshai Bandookbaaz received good response at box office. Nawazuddin’s ardent fan base has certainly translated to the box office prospects of the crime drama. Despite being in competition with other releases, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has managed to make its presence felt at the box office despite its unique genre.
Kushan Nandy ’s directorial this romantic drama garnered the business of 7.53 crores in the opening weekend, with 2.05 crore on Friday, 2.41 crores on Saturday and 3.07 crores on Sunday. On Monday with 41% of drop than Friday, it managed to collect the amount of 1.38 crore and made it’s domestic total 8.91 crores.
