Baahubali 2 all set to hit the screens on April 28th
SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is undoubtedly the biggest film to be released this year. After the first part of the two-part franchise successfully garnered fans all over the world, expectations from the concluding part are sky high. Baahubali 2 is all set to mark its name in the pages of cinematic history with a massive release across 6,500 screens in India. It is the continuation of Baahubali: The Beginning. Initially, both parts were jointly produced on a budget of ₹2.5 billion (US$37 million).
However the budget of the second part was increased later Baahubali: The Conclusion set a record collection of ₹5 billion (US$74 million) before the release of the film through satellite and theatrical rights. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 28 April 2017. Baahubali 2 will be the first Indian film to be released in 4K High Definition format. It is estimated that close to 200 screens are being upgraded to 4K projectors before the release date of the movie. If that’s not enough, even the overseas release of this magnum opus is going to be like never before.
The film will be released in 35 screens across Australia and it will have a wide release in New Zealand and Fiji as well. The Hindi version will open across 18 screens in New Zealand and will release at six screens in Fiji Islands. Meanwhile, the film will be released in more than 800 screens all over North America (USA, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean and Central America) by Great India Films, one of the leading distributors in the overseas market.
Makers of Baahubali 2, Arka Media Works sold the theatrical rights of it’s Hindi version at 65 crores to Dharma Productions & AA Films. They have fetched massive 130 crores by selling theatrical rights for Telugu states, while bagged 47 crores for Tamil Nadu, 45 crores for Karnataka and 8 crores for Kerala. North America’s distribution rights have bee acquired by a International studio at 45 crores.
The makers have reportedly fetched more than 50 crores from it’s overseas distribution. More addition to the pre-release earning of Baahubali 2, film audio rights of all the versions have garnered around 30 crores for it’s makers. Satellite rights of Baahubali 2‘s Hindi version have been bought by Sony TV Networks at record price of 51 crores.
While the satellite rights of Telugu, Tamil & Malayalam have been acquired by Star Networks at 28 crores. The film is bankrolled by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner Arka Media Works. Starring Prabhas, Rana, Anushka and Tamanna in the lead roles, the movie is getting ready for a grand release on April 28 with premieres in North America a day earlier.
