The upcoming John Abraham and Varun Dhawan-starrer Dishoom has thrown in a surprise for its fans. The makers have revealed that Akshay Kumar has a cameo in the film. And that is not all, Akki will be sporting an all-new look for this role. In the first look picture that Akshay shared on Twitter, he is seen sporting a man-bun, and has on a black vest. Going by the picture, Akshay seems to be doing what he does best, a water stunt on a jet ski. A SpotBoyE article suggests that Akshay will be playing the role of a homosexual in the film. They quote a source as saying, “Akshay hasn’t made it loud. It’s nothing like the stereotypical gay shows in other Hindi films. He’s such a sport. When you look at him first, you can’t say he’s gay. But his swagger gives it away – and that’s something he will draw plenty of applause for.”
Anyhow, the makers of “Dishoom” have decided to seek court intervention to protect their commercial interests from the Hindi film being leaked online amid a buzz that the Varun Dhawan-Jacquelin Fernandez may have already been leaked, as reported by BollywoodLife. “The Varun Dhawan, John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer has been leaked online a week prior to its release,” the website said. It was just a few days ago that the “Dishoom” team submitted its film to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in a format that prevents illegal downloads and averts piracy efficiently.
The unfortunate online leak will definitely impact the film’s box office performance, which is why the “Dishoom” team has apparently approached the Bombay High Court. Mukesh Bhatt, president of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, said that the producers of the film are in the process of obtaining John Doe order from the Bombay High Court. This is to ensure that any content from “Dishoom” is not made available on Internet Service Providers (ISPs), telecom operators and other platforms.
“This issue should not be treated in isolation as piracy for films, but the sheer impunity and brazenness with which this illegality is being propounded indicates a structured attempt to damage the industry on the whole and should be considered as a serious threat,” Mukesh added. Interestingly, there are no other reports confirming that “Dishoom” is available for illegal download online. Mukesh did mention of a pirate site torrent advertising that the film will be shown soon. “We have received shocking news that a pirate site torrent is advertising that Dishoom will soon be shown.
If a pirate site advertises that there will be a leak, there could be nothing more frightening for a producer. So we held an emergency meeting since I am the president of the Film Producer’s Guild, and we senior producers thought about what can be done about it,” he told the press. Scheduled for a July 29 release, “Dishoom” is directed by Rohit Dhawan and stars Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, John Abraham and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles. This isn’t the first time that a film has been leaked online. “Udta Punjab,” “Great Grand Masti,” “Sultan” and more recently “Kabali” suffered a similar fate.
