Suriya’s “24” Releasing this Friday
Suriya’s upcoming movie “24” will be released in a big way in the United States. In fact, the Tamil movie will be shown in more screens than the recently-released Vijay-starrer, “Theri.” “24” will be released in two languages — Tamil and Telugu — in about 275 screens in the U.S. “Theri,” on the other hand, was released in about 150 screens. This is going to be the biggest release for a Suriya film in this part of the world. While the movie will be hit the screens in India on May 6, it will have a special premiere on May 5 in the U.S.
Suriya, who will be holidaying in the U.S. with his family at the time, will attend the special show. The advance booking for it has opened to a fantastic response from viewers. The worldwide screen count of “24” is expected to be above 2000 from the two versions. It will be released in over 20 countries. Meanwhile, the movie has been given a ‘U’ certificate, which makes it eligible for the Tamil Nadu government’s 30 percent entertainment tax exemption, which will be a big boost for the film at the box office.
“24” is a science fiction about time travel. Suriya will be seen in multiple roles, with Samantha and Nithya Menen romancing the actor in the movie. Vikram Kumar has written and directed the movie, which has drawn the viewers’ attention already with its visually-rich content. Suriya himself has produced “24” under his home banner of 2D Entertainment. The film also features Girish Karnad, Ajay, Saranya Ponvannan, and Sathyan in the supporting cast. AR Rahman has composed the music, while Tirru and Prawin Pudi have received credits for cinematography and editing, respectively.
