Baar Baar Dekho (BBD) 2nd Day Collection, Witnesses Decent Growth on Saturday

Saturday Collection Report of BBD

“Baar Baar Dekho” hit screens on Sept. 9 and has registered near-average numbers on opening day. However, the Sidharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif-starrer will hopefully make the most of Eid-Al-Adha, which falls on Sept. 12, Monday and is a partial holiday. “Baar Baar Dekho” has collected Rs. 6.81 crore at the domestic box office on day 1. The Nitya Mehra-directorial may have failed to beat Sidharth’s previous film’s (“Kapoor and Sons”) opening day record, which was Rs. 6.85 crore, but has outshined day 1 figures of Katrina’s “Fitoor” – Rs. 3.61 crore. “Baar Baar Dekho” has two established stars and is backed by popular production houses, which is why it was surprising when the film couldn’t surpass the day 1 numbers posted by Tiger Shroff’s “A Flying Jatt” – Rs. 7.10 crore.

However, one must note that “A Flying Jatt” opened on a partial holiday – Krishna Janmasthami – whereas Sidharth-Katrina’s film arrived in theatres on a working day.  The occupancy report of “Baar Baar Dekho” wasn’t impressive at first, but it showed a considerable growth through the day. In a few circuits, it witnessed 25 percent occupancy, which shot up with the evening and late night shows. The film is expected to perform well at multiplexes in metropolitan cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata among others.

Anyhow,  On the second day being weekend and due to favorable audience response, it received higher response than Friday. As per the report, Baar Baar Dekho is estimated to add the amount of 7.65 crores to its account on Saturday. Major contribution is being made by north regions of the country. With this, total 2 days collection of the movie has become 14.46 crores on domestic box office. On Sunday, Baar Baar Dekho has to take higher jump for a satisfactory opening weekend total.

Released in over 2,000 screens (approx.) and made on a budget of Rs. 50 crore, “Baar Baar Dekho” will recover more than half of its production cost in the opening weekend itself. Trade experts say, the film is likely to post Rs. 30 crore or more in its first weekend. However, with mixed response from critics and audiences alike, the film may find it difficult to grow over the weekend. Also, another threat is “Freaky Ali,” which released on the same day and may pick up if it receives positive word of mouth.

“Baar Baar Dekho” is crucial for Katrina if she wishes to reclaim the numero-uno spot and rule Bollywood like she did before “Phantom” bombed at the box office. Also, it will give us an idea if Sidharth can carry a film on his shoulders all by himself; “Hasee Toh Phasee” is his only film where he was the solo male lead.
