Sultan Second Wednesday Box Office Report
Sultan had many advantages working in its favour. One, it had Salman Khan in the lead which these days means box office bonanza. Second, it released during Eid, a festival that now is more synonymous to release of a Salman film than anything else. It was meant to go big. But the most important leverage that the film got was the extended 5-day weekend which worked wonders for the film. It was supposed to post amazing numbers but nobody thought it would go so big. But after a glorious opening weekend and week run, the film’s collection has started to slump. After a 4.08 cr second Monday, it made 3. 72 cr on Tuesday.
Although these are good numbers if week 2 of films are compared, the decline shows people now want to move to the next. In total, the film has made 271. 03 cr at the box office. Trade Analyst Trade Adarsh tweeted the figures saying, “#Sultan [Week 2] Fri 7.43 cr, Sat 11.46 cr, Sun 15.18 cr, Mon 4.08 cr, Tue 3.72 cr. Total: ₹ 271.03 cr. India biz. ATBB.” After a superb second weekend collection, Sultan’s numbers are dipping. Although apart from Rajinikanth’s Kabali, it hardly has any competition in the coming days. It has also made the fastest 500 cr worldwide gross and that’s incredible. The dip will hardly affect its run now. But there is still time for the film to move past Dhoom 3’s lifetime collection.
Sultan has recorded a lot firsts on the board with the highest opening day for 2016, highest opening weekend collection, and many more. It even achieved the feat of fastest 150 cr and 175 cr, both earned on Day 5. That’s two records in one day. It has also covered its cost already from the 1 week service and now the film is running in total profit. After such a big amount of income in first 2 weeks now the film is heading to cross the 500 Crores mark in lifetime. Start of this weekend has been noticed quite well even after other latest options in the theatres.
Third Wednesady i.e. 15th day income of Sultan has been recorded at around 3.17 Crores*. Third week is expected to see mix reaction from the audience. It can face a fall in the overall audience rush and excitement due to new flicks but will still has a good hold over the major number of screens. Cinema reports has now audience occupancy of about 30-40% and if this continues to fall lower than Sultan might get a fall back from the box office and end up sooner.
