Fan Second 2nd Day Collection: 1st Saturday Overseas & Domestic Income Report

SRK’s Fan 2nd Day Collection Report

Shah Rukh Khan‘s Fan has hit the theaters and got a remarkable opening at the box office along with the critical appreciation. The film has marked a whopping amount of Rs 19.20 crore on the first day, but failed to meet his last release Dilwale’s collection which was Rs 21 crore. Fan is Khan’s first release in 2016. The film is based around Gaurav who considers himself a fan of Aryan Khanna. However, things start taking an ugly turn in his life when his own idol starts hating him. Shah Rukh’s double role is the most exciting and engaging part in the film. More so because this time he plays the role of a 25 year old as Gaurav and 50 year old superstar both at the same time.

And the fans got to see diametrically opposite acting shades of SRK in the movie. The film has the widest release of 2016, as far as screen count is concerned. Around 3500 screens in India and an additional 1100 globally will feature Fan, which makes it the biggest release of the year so far, hitting 4600 screens worldwide. Now we have to wait and watch how much the film will collect till the weekend.

A drop was expected in its second-day collection, but a 19 percent drop might affect the overall opening weekend box office collection. The decline was mostly in mass circuits while business at multiplexes remained strong on Saturday. “#Fan declines in mass circuits, but remains strong at urban centres/plexes. Fri 19.20 cr, Sat 15.40 cr. Total: ₹ 34.60 cr. India biz,” trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted. The thriller drama, starring Shah Rukh in a double role, will now have to show a good jump in Sunday’s collection for a good opening weekend. A Rs. 20 crore third-day income is expected from “Fan,” but since the target audience is limited, it remains to be seen whether the film will have a good third day run.

“Fan”, which has been made with a whopping budget of Rs 105 crore (COP Rs 85 cr, P&A Rs 20 cr) , is one of the costliest Bollywood movies of 2016. Its domestic distribution rights have been sold for record prices. The film needs to show a bigger jump in its collection, if it has to recover the distributors’ investments.
