Rocky Handsome Tuesday Collection Report
John Abraham’s action thriller ‘Rocky Handsome‘ failed to meet the expectations as well as estimates when it racked up Rs 16.12 cr in its opening weekend at box office. The initial estimates projected an Rs 20+ cr opening weekend for this Bollywood thriller, however, the local hero lost the box office battle to mighty superhero saga ‘Batman v Superman’ which over-performed in the same market. It might be BvS, it might be Kapoor & Sons (a better choice f0r the weekend audience had) or t20 world cup match past Sunday, or just simple and plain truth that the film isn’t good, whatever the reason is, Rocky Handsome isn’t getting any better at box office.
The film opened to somewhat convincing numbers when it earned Rs 1.84 from Thursday previews and Rs 5.39 cr on Friday. However, Saturday and Sunday saw the business decline for this John Abraham starrer and it collected Rs 4.83 cr on Sat and a much lower Rs 4.13 cr on Sunday, making its weekend cume to Rs 16.12 cr. On Monday, its first weekday at box office, early estimates suggest that Rocky Handsome has collected around Rs 2.14 cr, a 50% drop of Friday. The actuals will be out today afternoon and so will Tuesday estimates. As of now, it’s a ride to downtown for Rocky Handsome at box office.
After making a business of 16.12 crores over the weekend including Thursday paid previews, the film on its first Tuesday collected 1.88 crores* according to the early estimates. Incoming reports from Tuesday are also unveiling that multiple shows of the film are going without any audience at all, which isn’t any good. Now, the actor-producer John Abraham has said that the film will look to recover its budget/production cost by the end of weekend and I’m pretty sure this isn’t what he expected. The film is reportedly hailed on a budget of around Rs 38 cr.
According to John, the film has already recovered larger chunk of investments through the sale of music and satellite rights but the box office run was what actually could turn profits in for the makers. Looking at it now, its hard to say the film will cross Rs 30 cr mart at domestic box office. But predicting box office numbers is a tricky business and as always, we’ll see how it goes.
