Neerja Tuesday Collection Report
Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja, the biopic on India’s youngest recipient of the Ashok Chakra Neerja Bhanot, has set the box office on fire in just three days of its release. The film might not have opened to a great start on February 19, the day it released, but word-of-mouth publicity and glowing reviews made people flock to the theatres over the weekend. As a result, in its first three days, Neerja managed to collect a staggering Rs 22.01 crore in India. Based on the events that led up to the September 5, 1986 Pan Am Flight 73 hijack and how Neerja Bhanot saved the lives of 359 people by laying down her own, Neerja has been appreciated by most moviegoers.
Now both the film have entered in the weekdays and being normal working days getting lesser occupancy as compare to weekend. But Neerja is still heading smoothly with steady performance. On Monday, it faced a drop of more than 40% and minted the amount of 5.45 crores* as its fourth day collection.
Film is totally different from other co releases and previous movies and that is the reason why audience felt excitement to watch it. Today it seemed as if audience was much busy in their own schedules but still few found some time to go and watch it hence resulting in lesser fifth day income of 4.35 crores*. Due to strong word of mouth, it has grossed excellent business in the weekend from limited 700 screens in India.
Film is coming out as a good entertainer especially in metro cities. Though nowadays its income have come down with considerable fall due to off weekend time but still the figures are not poor. In its 5 days time, film has got good numbers in its account with normal occupancy and positive audience approach towards it. Film with public favorable star power and high promotional value is doing impressive performance. This Sonam Kapoor starrer movie with interesting chemistry has attracted many viewers and still has got more to do in the coming days of the week especially in the coming weekend.
