Bajirao Mastani vs Dilwale 6th Day Box Office Collection
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s Dilwale, which hit the screens on December 18, has been quite steady at the box office in India. The Rohit Shetty-directed film is inching closer to the Rs 100-crore mark in India now. After five days at the box office, Dilwale has been able to earn Rs 84.6 crore in the country. The film opened to Rs 21 crore on December 18, made a business of Rs 20.09 crore on Saturday, followed by Rs 24 crore on its first Sunday. On the first Monday, Dilwale had a fairly good business of Rs 10.09 crore, and on Tuesday, the collections dipped somewhat and the film earned Rs 9.42 crore. The film hasn’t been able to match up to the pre-release hype as far as box office figures are concerned. Protests in several parts of the country on the day of release marred the business of Dilwale.
Shah Rukh’s comment that ‘intolerance was on the rise in India’ had him on the receiving end of the ire of several people, who took it upon themselves to protest against Dilwale once it hit the theatres. In addition to that, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra’s Bajirao Mastani hit the screens on the same day, hampering the business of both the films. Dilwale, which saw Shah Rukh and Kajol reunite on the silver screen after five years, also stars Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma, Boman Irani, Johnny Lever, Mukesh Tiwari, Pankaj Tripathi and others. Shah Rukh and Kajol were last seen together on film in Karan Johar’s 2010 film My Name Is Khan.
Ranveer starrer “Bajirao Mastani” business dropped on its fifth day as it accumulated Rs 9.40 crore on Tuesday compared to Monday’s Rs 10.25 crore income, but the drop was just 8 percent. In five-days, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film has earned Rs 66.42 crore net income from the domestic box office. Bhansali’s directorial film is looking forward to close the first week with over Rs 80 crore income. The first week box office collection will be among the top highest seven-day income, after “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”, “Tanu Weds Manu Returns” and others. “Bajirao Mastani” will cross Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office by Wednesday, while “Dilwale” might cross Rs 200 crore mark by the end of its first week.
Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh’s Bajirao Mastani, which had a slow start at the box office, has picked up pace over the weekend thanks to the strong and positive word of mouth. Bajirao Mastani’s collections have now registered a jump and is doing much better than Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol’s Dilwale. Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale, which have been going head strong at the box office, had witnessed a growth in their collections over the weekend, but Monday (December 22) collections have come as a surprise as SRK’s undefeated ‘Dilwale’ has been overpowered by the collections of ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
