Singh is Bliing (Singh is Bling) 1st Day Overseas Collection – Box Office Business Report

SIB The Film Overseas Box Office Collection

The film, about a turban-wearing Punjabi named Raftaar Singh who falls in love with a foreign woman (played by British beauty Amy Jackson) despite not being able to speak her language, originally contained images that sparked controversy in India’s religious circles. According to sources close to the picture, there were two scenes to which Sikh organizations objected and which the censor board decided to delete from the film. One scene had Akshay Kumar using his holy kadaa (iron bangle) as a weapon and the other scene shows Kumar’s turban catching fire. Singh is Bliing re-teams Kumar with director Prabhu Deva, who helmed the pair’s smash hit Rowdy Rahore, which was incidentally scripted by Baahubali director S.S. Rajamouli together with his father and frequent collaborator Vijayendra Prasad. That picture earned nearly 2.1 billion rupees, or $31 million during its 2012 release. Also featuring Lara Dutta and Kay Kay Menon as the villain, Singh is Bliing should perform extremely well with Kumar’s fans, especially the northern Hindi speaking audiences. A true test will be how well it fares in the south against the big budget Tamil language action-fantasy Puli, which opens in a mega-wide release on October 1st.

Few viewers said that Akshay is the real Khiladi of our Bollywood film industry which is a big compliment in itself and shows how much audience have loved the flick outside Indian territories also. Opening day has emerged a big opener in worldwide screens and it appeared as if there is lack of shows and seats and some viewers had to wait for another day for watching the film. The film launched on high number of screens today and being Gandhi Jayanti very near, all the viewers went to watch it along with their near and dear ones in overseas countries resulting in first & second day overseas income of 6.52 Crores ($ 1 Million). Audience excitement was on the top today and the occupancy in the theatres was not that much high; that was expected. But Akshay Kumar one more time has proved that old is gold and that no matter how much the Khan’s factor be hit among the audience in India and outside, he is still in the race. Based on the intense audience positive response on first day everywhere, rest of the weekend of Singh Is Bling is being expected to be even higher than the early predictions in domestic as well as international screens.
