Welcome Back Opening Day Occupancy Report

Akshay Kumar starrer “Welcome” was a laugh riot and a box office hit, and now the makers are back with the sequel. “Welcome Back”, which is a sequel to the 2007 film “Welcome”, features John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Naseeruddin Shah and Sakshi Maggo in pivotal roles. The comedy drama directed by Anees Bazmee has, so far, generated good hype. The trailer is interesting and is on the lines of Akshay’s “Welcome” movie, but the music of the film has received average response. Nevertheless, “Welcome Back” is expected to have a good opening day the box office. The advance booking of the film, which targets multiplexes as well as single screens, has got good response. The advance booking status predicts around 40 to 50% occupancy on opening day. The morning show might get a slow start, but the occupancy will definitely pick up in the evening and night shows.

“Welcome Back” opening day collection can be in the range of Rs 8-9 crore*, if the occupancy in the morning shows increases. Its total lifetime domestic business is expected to be around 65-70 crores at most. This time the budget of the movie is very high, also it is being promoted on high scale. So everyone is expecting a good start by the movie on box office. After watching the trial show, some external critics are reviewing Welcome Back as crap movie. Meanwhile, director Anees Bazmee feels that more than box office numbers its audiences response that matters.  Welcome released in December 2007 and was basically a record opening though numbers did not show that as it did not open at multiplexes on day one due to revenue sharing terms. The film went on to be a huge hit, the biggest of the year in some circuits. Not only that the film has been a huge success on television since release which endorsed the its popularity.
