Welcome Back Opening Day Business Report
“Welcome Back” has made around Rs. 14.35 crores at the box office, thus becoming the third highest opening of 2015, the highest being Salman Khan’s “Bajrangi Bhaijaan.” Director Aneez Bazmi’s comedy flick, starring Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and John Abraham, has exceeded all expectations by raking in big money on the very first day. Despite the lack of any bankable male star in the lead, “Welcome Back” has beaten Varun Dhawan’s “ABCD 2” and is also slated to cross beat Akshay Kumar’s “Brothers” opening day collections of Rs. 15.20 crores, if the early estimates are correct. Meanwhile, Welcome Back had a decent opening occupancy for the morning shows. The film was expected to open well since it is a franchise film. The first film had received good responses and hence the excitement for the sequel has been quite high. Welcome Back starring Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in key roles has started off better in Gujarat and mass circuits like Rajasthan.
Welcome Back Friday Box Office Collection
On its first day, the movie has recorded the overall occupancy of 70-80% in India. The Anees Bazmee film being a family film, may have a good weekend collections if the word of mouth remains good. As per critics, the new installment is good in budget and production rest in all cases the previous part Welcome was far better. But as per audience, this time punches of Anil & Nana are very hilarious and showed thumbs up to the movie. The high footfalls in the theaters could be attributed to the success of its first edition “Welcome,” and the release of a mainstream comedy after a long time. The film has done extremely well at single screens and decent business at multiplexes. We will have to see if the numbers grow on Saturday and Sunday or drop.
