Koratala Siva’s Srimanthudu (Shrimantudu) / Selvandhan has continued to its dream run at the worldwide box office on Saturday. The film, which minted Rs 12.25+ crore* on the opening day, noticed about 15% growth on the second day of its release. “Srimanthudu” minted Rs 13.75 crore* on day 2 and its two-day collections amount to over Rs 26 core*. The film witnessed growth during afternoon and evening shows on the second day. It is likely to see good growth on Sunday, 09th August and mint around Rs 40+ crore in its first weekend at the domestic box office. The occupancy was also good enough as compared to the response for other Tollywood movies. The advance booking of tickets for watching the film witnessed a scramble ahead of the release. The rush for online booking led to crashing of computer servers at some places and serpentine queues were seen at cinema halls and multiplexes.

Mahesh Babu’s “Srimanthudu” has opened to an overwhelming response at the premiere shows, but it has failed to beat the collection record of “Aagadu” as well as “Baahubali” at the US box office. Sunil Pantra, Vamsi Karumanchi, Kiran Duggirala and Shiva Polavarapu, who have acquired the US distribution rights of “Srimanthudu”, have released the movie in over 150 screens, which is more than the count of Mahesh Babu’s previous outing “Aagadu”. They reportedly held premiere shows in 117 locations in the country. Later, Mahesh Babu’s “Aagadu” smashed this record by collecting $533K from the preview shows in the country. Then, “Baahubali – the Beginning” not only shattered the records of Telugu movies, but also “PK”, which was the highest grosser Indian movie in the US (premiere shows). Audience has liked the movie very much, across the world movie is getting overwhelmed response.
