Bombay Velvet 2nd Day Box Office Collection
The much-awaited release of the year “Bombay Velvet” has opened to a rather dull response at the box office. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar, the film was touted to be one of the biggest releases of the year and was expected to open on a grand note. But the film failed to attract moviegoers on its opening day. The opening day box office collection of the film is just Rs 5.20 crore, which is lower than Deepika Padukone’s “Piku” and Sunny Loene’s “Ek Paheli Leela”. “Bombay Velvet” directed by Anurag Kashyap was released in 2600 screens in India. Despite featuring Ranbir, Anushka and Karan, the film failed to open big at the box office. On the other hand, Deepika’s “Piku” had a better opening even though it was released in lesser number of screens.
Bombay Velvet Saturday Box Office Business
The opening day occupancy of the film was so bad that some shows had to be cancelled across India. The occupancy picked post noon, but poor turnout in theaters in morning shows affected the overall business of the film. “Bombay Velvet” had an occupancy of just 15-20% in cinemas and multiplexes all over India till the afternoon, making it a very poor start for the film. However, the evening shows may pick up and the film may collect around Rs.4.65 crores approx by the end of day 2. Bombay Velvet is not for the mass audience. Be it the theme of the film or the songs, it is not a mass-friendly film. The film has disappointed trade analysts with its opening day box office collection. Anurag Kashyap’s film will have to show good trend in its opening weekend to at least earn the production cost.
