Bombay Velvet First Day Box Office Collection
Bombay Velvet Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Karan Johar was released worldwide on May 15. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, it was one of the most anticipated film of this year. With too many negative press and controversies surrounding it’s release, which in turn took a toll on box office collection. Ranbir Kapoor is seen in Bombay Velvet after two back to back duds (Besharam and Roy). Bombay Velvet is a period drama set against the backdrop of 1960’s.The film revolves around how the hopes and dreams collide with individual realities. Greed and aspirations take centre stage in the backdrop of city politics. With fine characteristics borrowed from the Theatre of the Absurd, Anurag Kashyap blends two genres to create an unexpected noir film. First day collection of the movie was not as expected. The movie which opened on Friday received a poor response. There were also cancellations of morning show in some regions due to lack of audience.
Bombay Velvet Opening Day Box Office Business
Bombay Velvet had a disastrous start in the morning shows and kept a slow stride till the noon shows across the country. The film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar got a screen count of 2600 in India. But the first day collections seem too dull. As per early estimates, the film made a business of Rs 5.20 crores nett on its 1st Friday at the Domestic Box Office. This Anurag Kashyap directorial will surely see a jump in cities on weekend days – Saturday/Sunday. The film fared poorly in single screens and mass belts. But being made on a budget of around 120 crore, the opening number shows no promise of recovery. Even the word of mouth is fairly on the negative side, which is not a good sign for the film.
