Uttama Villain Opening Day Box Office Business

Considering the popularity of Kamal Haasan across the world, the makers of the movie and industry experts expect it to have record-breaking opening. Moreover, “Uttama Villain” is Kamal Haasan’s movie after two years; his last release was “Vishwaroopam” in 2013. Meanwhile, a section of trade analysts feel “Uttama Villain” won’t have a easy ride at the box office. First, the Kamal Haasan flick is going to clash with Aishwarya R Dhanush’s much-awaited movie “Vai Raja Vai”, which has already managed to create a huge buzz among film lovers with its trailers.

Secondly, the Tamil box office is already having a good run with recent releases like “Kanchana 2” and “OK Kanmani”, making it difficult for the latest releases to get ample screen count. This has in fact resulted in a big dilemma for distributors and theatre owners, as they have to allot decent number of screens for “Vai Raja Vai” and “Uttama Villain” without affecting the success runs of Raghava Lawrence – Mani Ratnam movies. Those who managed to watch the first screening of “Uttama Villain” have claimed that the movie has all the elements expected from a Kamal Haasan starrer. This, in a way, has raised expectations far too high.
