While the former was released on 1 April, the latter has hit the screens on 2 April. Udhayanidhi Stalin’s “Nanbenda” has been released in 350 screens in Tamil Nadu. The early trade reports indicate that it has enjoyed a good occupancy at multiplexes and has managed to do well at some key centres. We should note that this film too has got mixed reviews. The movie has Nayantara and Santhanam in the key roles. The film released on a normal Friday with lower occupancy right from the morning shows but picked up later in the day. The film was garnered mixed reviews from both critics and audiences, due to which it showed little dip in its collections on Day 3 and collected Rs 4.50 crores. “Nannbenda” is a light-hearted comedy entertainer where Udhayanidhi Stalin and Santhanam share equal space. The movie has Karunakaran, Sherin, Pooja Ramachandran, Vinodhini, Manobala, Rajendran and others in the cast. It is a story about a guy named Sathya played by Udhayanidhi who falls in love with Ramya (Nayantara). After rejecting his proposals, she finally accepts his love. But when she tells a flashback, their love is broken. How he tries to win over her with the support of his dear childhood friend Kozhunthu is the remaining part of the story. Meanwhile, the story line and audience response is also good. However, Today is the holiday and the movie response was good and the movie collected Rs.1.50 crore approx on its 4th day at the domestic box office. Nanbenda means ‘You are truly my friend’ in English. As the name indicates, this movie is based on three childhood friends who fight, separate and reunite many years later. Nanbenda is the sequel to the 2012 movie Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (OK OK) or simply Ok Ok part 2.
